Why Notate

For buyers and partners. Notate is a secure document workspace for iPad and iPhone, with a desktop app for Windows. It gives people the editing, markup and signing they expect from Adobe on a laptop, inside the security your MDM already enforces.

The problem it solves

Your users want to review, mark up and sign documents on a tablet. The apps they like, such as PDF Expert or GoodNotes, are not built for a managed enterprise, so IT cannot allow them. Notate is the secure version: a PDF and Office editor that runs under Microsoft Intune app protection policies, BlackBerry Dynamics, Citrix or Ivanti, with nothing to migrate.

What people do with it

  • Open a document from email, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams or a corporate file share.

  • Edit PDFs and Word, Excel and PowerPoint files; annotate, highlight and handwrite.

  • Sign, including certificate-based digital signatures.

  • Redact and compare PDFs.

  • Send back only the pages that were marked up.

Why IT approves it

What IT asks

The answer

Does it work with our MDM?

Yes. Microsoft Intune with full app protection policy support, BlackBerry UEM and Dynamics, Citrix Endpoint Management, Ivanti (formerly MobileIron), and other AppConfig MDMs.

Where do our documents go?

They stay in your own systems. Notate works with documents where they already are, and Notate storage on Microsoft 365 is a SharePoint Embedded container inside your own tenant. Shafer Systems hosts no copy of your content.

Do we have to migrate anything?

No. Notate connects to the repositories you already run.

What about AI?

Notate's AI features are optional, controlled by app policy, and run on your own Azure OpenAI resource.
